We all worry, that’s normal, but if you worry too much, to the extend it interrupts your life you may suffer from what’s called Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD).

This anxiety disorder can practically take over your life and eventually lead to other medical problems.

If you find yourself in this position, please visit your doctor as soon as possible and evaluate treatment options.

It’s normal to worry on daily basis about things like money, paying your bills, health, your relationship with others, your job or future. But if you realize your worrying is constant and excessive or even irrational, you may be suffering an anxiety disorder.

People diagnosed with GAD are often worried about these things all day long, and it makes it hard for them to even think about anything else.

Treatment and diagnosis for a general anxiety disorder is often times difficult, because the causes are still unclear.

These are the most common symptoms for General Anxiety Disorder:

  • Nausea
  • Difficult breathing
  • Muscle tension
  • Headaches
  • Restlessness and fatigue
  • Sleeping problems
  • Sweating or hot flashes and changes in appetite.

See your doctor if you’re experiencing some of these symptoms and worry too much about your life.

Treatment may include therapy and medication. But since we are all different the treatment may vary as well.

TIPS: Don’t worry about this either, there’s help. Try to be specific about your symptoms when you see your doctor. Evaluate different treatment options with your doctor.

10 Easy Proven Tips for Stress Management VIDEO

Posted by Denis On June - 11 - 2010

I know the video above can truly help you with stress management, even when the tips explained there are really good, I wanted to add some extra information to it.

I have compiled some easy tips for stress relief. I have myself used these tips in the past and they really helped me time and again.

I hope these easy tips can help you reduce your stress level:

  • Try to find out what’s really causing stress to you. You may be surprised, we usually know the answer if we look deep inside.
  • Wonder what it is you could do to change the things that are causing you stress. Can you do something about them? If not, then maybe it’s better to let it be and try to find the way around them.
  • Don’t fall into vicious traps: Not eating properly or going to ill practices such as smoking and drinking are not wise decisions, you only worsen the situation. Try to eat a balanced diet and exercise instead. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables and drinking plenty of water will also help. Try to avoid caffeine.
  • Relaxation: Try to include relaxation techniques in your every day life. This would be like turning off, and we all need it from time to time. (don’t you wish we had an on-off key? I do sometimes! But then again, we can use relaxation techniques and they work)
  • Help relaxation by doing something creative. You could listen to music, do yoga, meditate, enjoy aromatherapy or any other stress busting exercise. You can watch some of the videos from this site to help you relax. I myself enjoy photography lots so I use my passion for photography as a stress buster.
  • Ask for help when you need it, don’t be afraid to do so. We all need help sometimes. Call on a friend, try to get the help you need from someone you genuinely trust.

Remember: These stress relief tips can really help you, but the choice is always yours!

Dealing with Anxiety and Panic Attacks

If you suffer from an anxiety disorder, panic attacks may be a part of your life too. Even when actually predicting a panic attack may be quite tricky, there are easy steps you can follow to prepare for the panic reaction and eventually take control of yourself and your life again…

The very first step would be to try to control your breathing. When you’re suffering a panic attack, you’ll feel so overwhelmed by the sensations that you’ll just forget to breath properly, this is a fact. Focusing on your breathing can help you a great deal to calm down when you’re having a panic attack.

Tip: You should know and practice breathing exercises before you are panicking.

It’s always wise to prepare yourself by practicing calming breathing techniques at least twice a day. Other relaxing practices may be as helpful.

Another great way to prepare for a panic attack is to simply know your triggers…

Do you have a phobia to something in particular? Is stress (in excess) your downfall? Do certain situations seem like impossible tasks for you and you’re worried about that?

If you know what triggers your panic reactions, you can do your best to avoid or minimize these situations.

You should also be medically prepared for a panic attack. When you go outside of your home, take with you a list of emergency contacts and include your doctor’s number there. You can use these phone numbers yourself if you feel a panic attack starting, or someone else could find this information in your purse or wallet if you happen not to be capable of helping yourself.

It’s a good idea to take personal things with you that could help you calm down during a panic attack. You should keep any medications you may be taking in a bag, along with instructions on how to take it. You can also include simple yet effective items from home that will help you feel more comfortable. This can include herbal tea, religious items, photos, rubber bands to snap on your wrist, mints, hand cream, money, a puzzle, a book, anything that may help you relax, stimulated your brain, or distract yourself for a moment.

Remember, comfort is key when you’re suffering a panic attack.
